Dave Cato

Dave Cato, the man behind Catocraft Automotive, has a quarter of a century’s experience behind his classic car restoration business. Having worked in V8 Supercars as a motorsport mechanical engineer and team manager, he has played around with building and designing vehicles since he was a lad. Dave believes in keeping things simple and doesn’t like to be told something can’t be done! From mechanical work on the motor of a classic muscle car, through to custom painting of a vintage restoration, Dave is known in classic car restoration circles for thinking outside the square. No question, when it comes vehicles Dave has a vision most others can’t see. He has travelled the world building and racing cars and being an engineer he is fastidious and particular about detail. He strives to make sure nothing escapes his eagle eye and isn’t happy unless his clients are overjoyed.

Sam Morris

With a background in psychology, Cato Automotive office manager Sam Morris understands the conscious and unconscious thinking that fuels car lovers’ passion and pursuit of classic cars and the restoration of classic and historic vehicles.

Cutting her teeth in the industry as the assistant of business owner Dave Cato during his time in V8 Supercars, Sam’s 20-plus years in customer service and her own self-professed love of muscle cars make her the perfect conduit between clients and the Cato Automotive vehicle restoration team. Whether it’s helping chase up classic car upholstery and trim or helping arrange the transportation of a classic vehicle restoration project, Sam keeps the team ticking over smoothly and can also provide light humour when required.
